Raman Bakshi was a class-mate of Shiv in Delhi Public School. They got admission together in the East Kailash Elementary DPS in the same class in 3rd grade. The school had opened a few slots for admissions to their evening session as they were extending their intake to the School. At that time Raman and Kapil had a white hanky tied over their head locks. Ever since these kids have been friends. Both of them were lucky to get admission to this Prime School in the city.
While I was a Deputy Director with the Govt Of India, their Dad Inder Pal S Bakshi worked as a top ranking executive in a Government Undertaking CMC. Both of our families decided to migrate to USA at the ripe stage of the careers, one to East and me to the West coast. Since then our friendship has bonded together very well in last 25 years and more. I was inspired by Inderpal Bakshi to start a Software Consulting Company AMS Informatix Inc and even copying the name of his Master Informatix Inc. To the credit of Inderpal Bakshi, he never objected to the name and always encouraged me to guide me with nuisances of the trade tricks. He never showed jealousy but always boosted me and that is the basis of our strong relationship.
We have been meeting at every possible opportunity as we gel together well with each other. Both families had moved to Delhi after partition and struggled hard to reach a middle income group level by working strenuously with utmost honesty and integrity at the same time following strong Sikh tenets. We were jolted by the 1984 Sikh riots of Delhi where open massacre of Sikhs made us change our minds to migrate one more time, this time far away to USA.
The course of development being the similar, the families love to cling together and exchange every minute details both personally and professionally.
Raman made fortune at a very young age by selling his technology company to Microsoft and is presently working as a high level technocrat in a Real Estate Company, while Avneet is a software professional.
Raman and Avneet are on a private visit to West coast and made it a point to meet us on an evening. It was indeed a thrill to have them in Sherwood Court along with their two well mannered little kids Babiya and Paalki.
Kapil came all the way to attend Gobind Dastar Bandi to represent his family only last month. And the Chain of relationship carries on...
