Wisdom Atticates

Wisdom:

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person that borrowed you remember or ask for it. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes.

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner.

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem;

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public;

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time;

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you. Besides, second opinion is good for an alternative;

8. Never interrupt people talking. Allow them to pour it out. As they say, hear them all and filter them all;

9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again. It encourages one to do more and it shows how appreciative you're;

10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.

11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately;

12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will;

13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next;

 14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctors' appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say "I hope you’re okay". Don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness. If they want you to know, they'll do so without your inquisitiveness;

15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed at how rude you can treat someone below you but people will notice if you treat them with respect;

16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude;

17. Never give advice until you’re asked;

18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age and salary;

19. Mind your business unless anything involves you directly - just stay out of it;

20. Remove your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect. Moreso, eye contact is as important as your speech; and

21. Never talk about your riches in the midst of the poor. Similarly, don't talk about your children in the midst of the barren.

22.After reading a good message try to say       "Thanks for the message".

APPRECIATION remains the easiest way of getting what you don't have....

LA family invites Shiv for a special Kirtan

It sounds like Kirin's 18th birthday and graduation were quite special and memorable occasions. Having Shiv perform Kirtan at their house must have added a beautiful and spiritual touch to the celebration. It's wonderful to note that Shilpy and Geet accompanied Shiv to Los Angeles in their GL 450. Traveling together can create meaningful experiences and strengthen bonds. I hope they had a fantastic time celebrating and making lasting memories on this special occasion.

Shilpy's booking of the Hilton time share at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California, must have provided a luxurious setting for Shiv and Shilpy.

 I'm glad to hear that the Bhasin family created a warm and hospitable environment for Shiv, Shilpy, and Geet during their visit. Gurbani Kirtan is indeed a beautiful addition to any occasion, and I'm sure it added a meaningful touch to the festivities on Monday the27th May.

Super Bloom in California and Sherwood

The Super Bloom in California sounds like a beautiful but challenging phenomenon for allergy sufferers. The increased pollen levels during such events can indeed worsen allergy symptoms. Taking long-term allergy treatments, using over-the-counter remedies, sinus washes, and maintaining good personal hygiene can help reduce the impact of allergies. Additionally, using an air purifier with a HEPA filter, can be beneficial in reducing pollen indoors.

Wazir Chandu Lal of Nizam IV of Hyderabad

Wazir Chandu Lal was an influential figure in the 19th century who served as the prime minister in the court of the Nizam IV of Hyderabad. He was a devout follower of Guru Nanak and adhered to the Nanakpanthi tradition. Chandu Lal played a significant role in promoting the message of Guru Nanak by establishing Nanak Muths (spiritual centers) across Central and South India.

One notable contribution by Wazir Chandu Lal was the financial support he provided for the establishment of the historic Dera Baba Nanak Gurdwara. Situated on the eastern banks of the River Ravi in the village of Dera Baba Nanak, this gurdwara holds great importance for Sikhs and pilgrims, as it commemorates Guru Nanak's visit to the region.

Chandu Lal also assisted Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Lahore Darbar in the construction of a gurdwara in Nanded, Maharashtra. This gurdwara was built to honor the final resting place of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. The efforts and support extended by Wazir Chandu Lal played a crucial role in preserving and promoting the Sikh faith and its historical landmarks.

Wazir Chandu Lal's dedication to the teachings of Guru Nanak and his contributions to the Sikh community's heritage make him an important figure in Sikh history, particularly in relation to the spread of Guru Nanak's message and the preservation of Sikh religious sites.

Sri Darbar Sahib ji 170 years apart

The two images of Sri Darbar Sahib Ji Amritsar are separated by approximately 170 years.

Certainly! Sikh kirtan, or devotional music, has evolved over the centuries, reflecting cultural and historical changes. During the pre-colonial era, string instruments like the Rabab, sarangi, taus, dilruba, saranda, and others were commonly used to accompany Sikh kirtan at Sri Darbar Sahib Ji in Amritsar.

These string instruments were an integral part of the Sikh musical tradition and were played by skilled musicians known as "rababis." The resonant and melodic sound produced by these instruments added depth and richness to the kirtan performances.

However, with the onset of the colonial era and European influence in India, the harmonium, which originated from France, gained prominence in Sikh kirtan. Introduced to India in the 19th century, the harmonium quickly became popular due to its portability, ease of use, and ability to produce a wide range of sounds.

The harmonium, often referred to as the "Vaaja" in Punjabi, gradually replaced many of the traditional string instruments. It became a common accompanying instrument in gurdwaras (Sikh places of worship) for kirtan performances. Its distinct sound and versatility made it well-suited for the evolving needs of Sikh kirtan.

This shift from string instruments to the harmonium represented a change in the musical landscape of Sikh kirtan, influenced by colonial-era dynamics and the introduction of new musical instruments from other cultures. Despite these changes, the essence of devotional singing and the spiritual significance of kirtan have remained integral to the Sikh tradition.

I hope this provides a more detailed explanation of the transition from string instruments to the harmonium in Sikh kirtan.

Exploring Van Sickle Bi-State Park: A Tranquil Oasis on the California-Nevada Border

In search of an enjoyable outdoor adventure amidst the stunning weather, we embarked on a quest to find a hiking trail in the Tahoe area. Our search led us to discover the exquisite Van Sickle Bi-State Park, a public recreation area situated on the California-Nevada border.

Nestled overlooking the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe, this park not only offers breathtaking views but also commemorates the legacy of Henry Van Sickle, a pivotal figure in the establishment of Genoa and its surrounding regions. Managed jointly by the Nevada Division of State Parks and the California Tahoe Conservancy, Van Sickle Bi-State Park boasts an array of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails for visitors to explore.

Exploring Nature's Splendor:

As we ventured into the park, we were captivated by the abundant flora and fauna that enveloped the serene landscape. The tranquil atmosphere provided the perfect setting for an idyllic escape.

During our journey, we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow hiker from our city, accompanied by her friendly canine companion. She kindly shared with us a lead to a border road marker, adding an extra layer of intrigue to our adventure.

Enchanting Campsite at 6280 ft:

At an elevation of 6280 feet, we discovered a picturesque campsite, complete with the usual amenities such as tables and barbeque facilities. The scenic views and serene surroundings made it an ideal spot to unwind and immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature. As we set up camp, we relished in the anticipation of the unforgettable experiences that awaited us.

The American Desi Hand-Pump:

One of the most pleasant surprises during our exploration was the encounter with a unique hand-pump. We instantly dubbed it the "American Desi Hand-Pump." Intrigued by its design and functionality, we delved into further research to uncover its fascinating details and how it remains freeze-resistant in all weather conditions.

Model M-75-BD4: A Year-Round Hydrant:

Our investigation revealed that the hand-pump in question is known as Model M-75-BD4, a post hydrant specifically engineered for year-round usage in freezing or inclement weather conditions. With a burial depth of 4 feet, this freeze-resistant unit ensures a continuous water supply. By extending below the ground's surface, the supply inlet is strategically positioned at or below the frost line. The inlet features a union connection, while the stock, top, and base are crafted from durable, one-piece iron castings, finished with a high-quality oil-based green enamel. Furthermore, the inner supply assembly incorporates solid-brass castings, and the nozzle, threaded for a 3/4" hose connection, is also made of solid brass. The handle, made from a single iron casting, boasts the same sturdy green enamel finish. Operated by a turn handle, the valve allows for convenient control of water flow. Moreover, when the valve is shut off, water is gravity-evacuated from the inner supply column. It is worth noting that all waterways within the hydrant utilize lead-free castings, adhering to ASTM standards B61 and B62.

Discovering the Historic Border Marker:

Guided by our fellow hiker, we were led to a historic border marker that stood as a symbol of the connection between California and Nevada. Standing there, we momentarily felt like the temporary owners of both states, savoring a unique and memorable experience.

Conclusion:

Our visit to Van Sickle Bi-State Park proved to be a remarkable journey filled with natural wonders, serene landscapes, and unexpected discoveries. This haven of tranquility on the California-Nevada border offers a diverse range
