Tirparappu Waterfalls sound impressive with their 300 ft length and a height of nearly 50 ft. 

It's fascinating that the waterfall flows with such force for seven months. The rocky riverbed and the weir constructed for water supply add to the area's uniqueness and utility.

CEA old friends get together for a Lunch at CSOI, Vinay Marg

During the prime of my youth, I had the privilege of working alongside a remarkable group of friends and colleagues at the Central Electricity Authority of the Government of India. 

Recently, a dear and close friend organized a dream lunch meeting for us. This event was an opportunity for us to reconnect and reminisce about our shared past.

After my departure and migration to the USA in pursuit of my dreams, my colleagues continued to excel and attain the highest possible ranks in the nation. 

Despite the geographical distance, our friendship remained strong, and this lunch reunion allowed us to rekindle the bonds we had forged.

Gathering with our families and reflecting on our time at the office, the lunch was a heartwarming experience that brought back cherished memories. It was, without a doubt, the greatest reunion. 

I only regret that I couldn't meet more of my colleagues due to prior commitments and the festive season's demands. As my better-half and her brother who came to drop me off at the venue CSOI Vinay Marg, CEA party was kind enough to invite them over the well served and delicious vegetarian food. The spontaneous invite depicted deep rooted culture still present in post colonial executives.

As we concluded the lunch meeting, it was clear that the ties of friendship and camaraderie we had built during our time at the Central Electricity Authority would endure, regardless of the miles that now separated us.

The memories we shared that day were a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the importance of cherishing those connections that time and distance cannot erode. Though we couldn't meet everyone we wished to, the warmth of the rekindled relationships left us with a sense of gratitude and a promise to make more moments like this in the future.

World’s largest Bird Sculpture Jatayu in Kerala

The Jatayu sculpture in Kerala is an awe-inspiring sight, resting on its back with wings outstretched across 150ft. Spanning 200ft from tail feathers to head, with talons soaring 70ft high, it stands atop the 1,000 ft-high Jatayupara. The art piece covers severed wing, feet and body, showcasing its detailed profile, featuring a sharp beak, formidable talons, and a fierce, unwavering gaze fixed on its adversary.

After three nights stay in Thiruvantipuram we proceeded towards Alappuzha by road. The journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Alappuzha is a scenic one, and along the way, we come across a massive hill featuring a Jatayu sculpture. This impressive sculpture, created by the renowned sculptor Rajiv Anchal, adorns the hill's summit and was inaugurated in Aug 2018. The project incurred a substantial cost of 100 million rupees, making it a significant landmark in the region. The Jatayu sculpture pays homage to the mythological bird from the Ramayana and is a testament to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Kerala.

Jatayu Earth Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park or Jatayu Rock in Kollam district, Kerala, is situated at a significant altitude, 350 meters (1200 feet) above the mean sea level. 

Fortunate to snap the sculpture while traveling from Thiruvantipuram to Kochi Highway.

Moreover, the world's largest bird sculpture, depicting Jatayu, adds a unique and impressive dimension to the site, making it a remarkable attraction for both tourists and those interested in Indian mythology and culture.

Jatayu, from Hindu mythology, is a prominent character in the epic Ramayana and a Demi-God. He is a vulture-like bird and a loyal devotee of Lord Rama. In the Ramayana, Jatayu plays a crucial role in trying to save Sita from the demon king Ravana's abduction. 

Absolutely! Jatayu's incredible strength, resilience, and combat prowess were indeed legendary. His confrontation with Ravana showcased his formidable abilities – from overpowering Ravana's charioteer to destroying the chariot itself, enduring the barrage of arrows, and ultimately breaking Ravana's bow with sheer force.

Jatayu's physical capabilities and endurance were exceptional, to the extent that he could withstand powerful celestial weapons. His valiant efforts in the face of such a powerful adversary like Ravana highlight his extraordinary strength and unwavering determination. He valiantly fought Ravana but was ultimately defeated.

Jatayu's selfless act of trying to protect Sita symbolizes bravery, sacrifice, and devotion. The Jatayu sculpture you saw on the hilltop not only serves as a cultural and artistic marvel but also carries deep mythological and spiritual significance, reminding people of the timeless values and stories found in Indian epics.

A silver coin Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder and leader of the Sikh Empire in the early 19th century, issued a series of silver coins during his rule. These coins are known for their unique and significant designs that often depicted Sikh religious symbols and historical figures.

One of the most iconic depictions on these coins was that of Maharaja Ranjit Singh himself offering a lotus flower to Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism. This imagery symbolizes the close association between the Sikh rulers and the teachings of Guru Nanak. The Nishan Sahib, which is the Sikh flag, was also often featured on these coins, further emphasizing the religious and cultural identity of the Sikh Empire.

Pigeon valley Cappadocia

Visiting Pigeon Valley in Cappadocia is a picturesque and memorable experience. 

Pigeon Valley, also known as Güvercinlik Vadisi in Turkish, is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. It's located between Göreme and Uçhisar and offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of Cappadocia's unique landscape.

The valley gets its name from the thousands of pigeon houses (dovecotes) that have been carved into the rocky cliffs. Pigeons have long played an essential role in Cappadocia's agriculture, as their droppings were used as fertilizer.

As we hike through Pigeon Valley, we were surrounded by Cappadocia's iconic rock formations, including fairy chimneys and cave dwellings. The contrast between the lush greenery of the valley floor and the surreal rock structures creates a captivating scene.

The pigeon houses carved into the cliffs are not only functional but also visually intriguing. These small niches served as nesting sites for pigeons and doves, and their droppings were collected for agricultural purposes.

 Pigeon Valley is a popular spot for watching the sunrise and sunset. The changing colors of the sky against the backdrop of the unique rock formations make for a magical experience.

Underground caves of Cappadocia

Cappadocia's underground caves have a rich history dating back thousands of years. These caves served various purposes over time, including as shelters, homes, and places of worship. They were particularly valuable during times of conflict and persecution.

Exploring the underground caves of Cappadocia, which were historically used as shelters, is a fascinating and unique experience.we engaged a private guide Yakub along with his driver who had a 7 seater Mercedes Benz van to accommodate four of us.

The guide explained to us the details of history of the caves very well in fluent English.

Many of the underground cave systems were meticulously carved out of the soft tuff rock by ancient civilizations, such as the Hittites, Phrygians, and early Christians. These caves often consisted of multiple levels, with tunnels, rooms, and ventilation shafts.

During periods of invasion and persecution, these caves provided safe havens for local populations. Residents could retreat into these underground labyrinths to escape danger.

Storage pots have been preserved meticulously by repairing the cracks and reinforcing with steel wires

Some caves were equipped with living quarters, storage areas, and even wells for a self-sustaining existence underground.

Cappadocia has a strong connection to early Christianity, and many of these underground caves were converted into churches and monasteries. Some of the most famous rock-cut churches with stunning frescoes can be found in the Göreme Open Air Museum.

This part was steep and scary, so only Gurpal could dare to experience the lower floors.

Today, we explored these underground cave complexes with the help of our guide Yakub. Walking through the narrow passages, descending into hidden chambers, and admiring the ancient artwork on the walls provides a unique glimpse into the past.

Efforts are being indeed made to preserve these underground sites and their historical significance. Conservation measures are in place to protect the fragile frescoes and prevent damage to the caves.

The underground caves have a unique and almost mystical atmosphere. The temperature remains relatively constant year-round, making them comfortable to visit even during extreme weather conditions. The dimly lit chambers and the sense of being deep underground add to the intrigue.
