I have heard stories from my Dad Sardar Vasdev Singh about our Ancestors owning a prime property in Loyalpur. When the city was being built my Dad's older uncle Lala Sham Dass Taya Ji was posted as Tehsildar in the just beginning of twentieth century min 1903. The Tehsil headquarters of the city was on Kachehry Bazar. There was a insignificant pond adjacent o the Tehsil.
Some prominent assistant in his office suggested to his Boss Lala Sham Das ji to buy the pond. L Sham Dass was known to be a Rais from Multan with lot of properties and Agricultural land in Multan and Bahawalpur. He was convinced that this peace of otherwise deserted land had a great opportunity for his generations to come. He got in touch with his brothers L Bhagwan Das a Superintendent in Dy Commissioner Office in Multan and our Dada Ji and Lala Murli Dhar ji.
Soon the family was the owner of that deserted but futuristic pond. the pond was later developed into huge rental property by L Murli Dhar and his son L Brahm Das ji by getting funds from banks. My Dad told me that this Loyalpur property was fetching a princely rent of Rs 700 per month in early 1940s
