Tearful Parting

Strober Family

Shilpy Kapoor and Marianne Strober locked in a tearful parting hug.

Our neighbors of seven years, Marianne and Bill Strober are leaving San Ramon for good and moving to Texas. When we came to the Sherwood Court on July 29 2006, Strober family was already there.

Family Meeting

Bill and Marianne along with Mikey were seen hanging arround in the Court. Bill used to pass on the tricks of the trade of playing Basketball to Mikey. Their twin daughters Sammantha and Christina were yet to arrive in this world.

Gobind and Mikey on the parting day

Pretty, lovelly and friendly Sammy & Chrissy were usually here at our place to play with Jania and would always baffle me with the question 'who was Sammy? and who was Chrissy?'. To help me, they will tell me that one is of short hair and the other with longer. But even today, I can not make out one from the other.

They will play for hours in Jania's room. While Jania will rush to their home for swimming sessions.

All set to go for swimming in the Strober's home Pool.

All the five of them would enjoy their evenings together. We were relaxed as Marianne would invariably volunteer to watch them over their pool activity.

Jania, and twins Sammy and Chrissy

When Gobind and Jania were traveling India last month. These kids will suddenly show up to enquire when their friends are likely to return. When Jania will connect FaceTime from India, it was really odd time to connect with their friends. Their efforts went abegging.

Bill was very famous for the decorations of his home with beautiful lighting during Halloween days. The lights will be displayed for full four weeks in his home. He will bring his well stacked lights from the public storage and start laying them on his front yard clear two weeks before. Off late, he was found taking help from Mikey, Sammy and Chrissy too.

The girls in playful mood

Couple of years back, one evening I found Bill sad when I questioned him why he had put lesser lights for Halloween during that particular year. He blamed the exorbitant power bill for that and the family was running through bad economic times due to recent lay off. What ever be the reason, Bill had a resolve to keep neighborhood lively.

To our good luck, the times changed again, Bill  returned to installing full lights and has since then added LED lights to counter Electricity Bills. I remember there are hundreds of neighborhood kids on Halloween night to enjoy the lights of Strober family.

Kids hanging around for the last time

Bill and Marianne are temporarily moving to a smaller place till their own mansion of 5300 Sq ft gets ready by year end.

Marianne was a very alert neighbor and kept a close watch on our home as strategically our home is placed in frontal view of her home office. Only last week, getting a hint from her, I fired my landscaper as he was found making rounds of our house in a suspicious way which confirmed my doubts too. Her vigil eye was helpful and forthcoming.

Strangely Tweety came all the way on his two feet to say Hi to Strober Family.

As the Strober family is now leaving, all of us are feeling sad. Our kids shall surely miss each other. Marianne countered it with a strong resolve declaring the FaceTime will surely come to our rescue.

Bye Strober Family, have a good luck at your new dwelling, we shall miss you always.

God bless Strober family!
