Simba, a labradoodle, had the name of a lion, and the personality of a president.
Our family is grief stricken with sudden and shocking passing of Simba. We are devastated!
Before leaving for our holidays 2022 to Las Vegas, we had dropped Simba at a Dog-sitter. Next day evening around 8.00 PM while we were still on the road, we got a distressed call from the Dog-sitter informing us that Simba had run away when he was being taken for a walk in the Park.
Shilpy/Jania marshaled her local resources and requested them to go and search for Simba. Some of them saw Simba but he refused to listen to them and instead ran and ran. We abandoned the search by midnight.
It was decided to rush Shilpy and Jania by early morning flight. Both of them went frantically from street to street but even after 4-5 hours thorough searching and shouting they could not get a respond from him. Finally Simba’s body was found near the cross section of Interstate Freeway 580/680.
Perhaps his last walk of his life.
Every morning Simba will first go to Harvinder’s bedside then to mine bedside for paying his morning greetings to us. After getting our blessings he will make an immediate u-turn and get out of our room.
Jania and Geet picking a puppy
Simba was not only the darling of family but also of friends, relatives and majority of students and parents of Live Oak Elementary School.
During party times in Sherwood, he will be very happy & excited and will mingle profusely among 100 + guests without getting irritated.
The Laben House where Gobind stayed in UC Davis
Simba was a craze among the fellow students in the University of California Davis campus whenever he visited Gobind. Simba remained there for many hours.
Gobind relaxing with Simba when on his University break
Jania was Super happy to lift Simba in her lap.
Most of the time Simba spent was with Jania. Jania was the one who helped him for the walk and play throw ball with him in our back yard. I was so happy and relieved to see Jania walking with Simba in the streets of San Ramon when she went to meet her school friends. She was the most secured in his company undoubtly.
Shilpy glad to share Simba bed
It was Shilpy who taught us the art of keeping a pet. She is the one who masterdesigned the size, color, and the type of dog. She picked up a mid size Labrador Doodle for the family. This type don't shed hair as some of our family members are allergic to animal hair. Shilpy meticulously was arranging the food, his toys, getting vaccinations, veterinary Doctor visits, his grooming and monthly spa etc. She continued to care rigorously for him at the cost of harsh words from me and Harvinder at times.
Simba collecting his gift a day after last Christmas
She had picked a mid size Labrador Doodle who grew up so well that he ran like a ‘Cheetah’ and jumped almost 10feet to play ball with Gobind and Jania. It was a treat to watch him sprinting. Simba was all the way majestic with a royal gate.
Diwali Time. He will aggressively join the family during photo shoot.
Simba was my Sun-bath partner and would guard me when I had a nap.
Whenever ShivShilpy were returning home from any outing, he will warn us of their arrival when their car was about a mile away. The squirrels were ever scared of Simba as such the demage to our back yard garden fruits had minimized.
Simba was jealous of Geet and won’t relent unless he got equal warmth of the lap of Shiv.
Simba prayed along with family members, sit quietly outside the Baba ji room
At the time of Christmas dinner, Simba made it sure to be in the frame.
Being a Labrador Doodle and of midsize, he was trained to comfortably unlatch the doors. He was mobile from front door to side-garage door and into house from garage door. It’s rarely that dogs can open the door latch on their own.
Never in my life I have felt so sad and full of grief as today - the day of his demise. It is not only the last day of the year but unfortunately the last day of Simba’s life.
Now who would sit in our feet while we enjoy our meals in the family room?
We miss you, so badly, Simba. Let your soul rest in peace!
