The Chhabras Breaking Down Walls of Separation

The fence razed down between two houses and a freshly laid down walking path.

I had the honor to attend an invitation from Chhabra family on the occasion of House Entering Ceramony. Gurpreet, the older brother became a friend of Shiv as we were new immigrants arround 1993. We had met together couple of times over small get togethers.  when his parents visited the brothers Gurpreet and Prameet. Their dad Jagjit Singh Chhabra Veer Ji was still serving with Government of India at that time in 1998. Being a co-worker with the Government of India was a reason enough for me to bind into a good friendship with this gentle of a man.

Jagjit Veer Ji is a trained Engineer and a highly spiritual man. He is a saintly person. During our many talks, he was feeling bad as he could not have an access to reading Guru Granth Sahib as was his routine habit back home in India. I just inspired by Waheguru's instinct suggested him in a casual way to take the online help of a computer, which he had in his possession. I with trifle knowledge of computer introduced him a couple of web sites to get help from.

So next week when I met him in the Gurdwara, he told me to have already completed the reading of all the 1430 pages of GGS. Was it not amazing? He also told me that he was on his way to re-read the entire pages again. Unlike feeling dejected as last time he was, Jagjit Veer Ji was extremely delighted and proud to have accomplished the feat in a short time on his own through the help of modern technology. He was no more feeling bored. Before going back to Delhi, Jagjit Veer Ji had had performed the readings many times over as he proudly mentioned to me.

Jagjit Veer Ji and his wife Verinder Kaur Bhenji continue to walk on directions of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to guide their kids/grandkids. Two older grandkids Japjee and Jeevat have already adopted the path shown by them and are independent enough to read GGS on their own.

The Chhabra family with both brothers Gurpreet & Prameet had been living jointly together with their four kids under the watchful eyes of grand parents, Jagjit Vir Ji and Varinder Kaur Bhenji. They had a big house and appropriate additions had been done to accumodate their requirements under one roof.

With growing needs of the family, a god sent opportunity came their way. The adjescent home was available for sale. Chhabras grabbed the opportunity and closed the Escrow recently.

Breaking the fence between the houses was the very first thing initiated by the Gen Next. In the absence of tools, the kids brought knives & forks to do the job of breaking the Wall. There after it was no stopping and easy going.

As we come and join the facilitations, a brand new sidewalk was found to be laid down, where a fence stood a few days back.

I have heard and seen many walls erected between the siblings many times in my life. This is the first time that I have seen a wall being broken down between the two houses of brothers. 

It was a joy to see togetherness of this family. May Waheguru bless the Chhabra family.
