Badbar Bright in Dec 2012

I get the very first impression that my village Badbar has become more developed. There is a lot of hustle and bustle in and arround the village. Many peoole of all ages with colored clothes are found hanging arround in corners all along the highway. Freshly painted shops with deep colors line up near the Bus Stop vibrating the business environment. Finally I am convinced it is Badbar a dusty village a couple of decades ago.

Life has become very easy now with the opening of Shatandi New Delhi-Ludhiana/Moga via Sangrur.  In a matter of 15-16 hrs, I can enjoy a stay of 6-7 hours at my farms in village Badbar.  Earlier same journey would taken a whole day to reach and one more to travel back.

Harvinder and me started takeing this train lately. The rail authorities serve us an excellent breakfast on the train within minutes of steaming off at 7.00 am. As the train passes through the country side, we enjoy fields full of seasonal crops while enjoying the breakfast. By 11.am as the train reaches Samgrur, my hired car will take another 20 minutes to reach my fields at a distance of 10 miles. I usually spend not more than one hour here going through the fields and talking to the farm workers. We further go to another parcel of my lands at a distance one more Kilometer.

We spend one more hour here when we will enjoy some fresh organic seasonal vegetables. So the trip is like a picnic with fresh air and far from the maddening crowds and pollution of cities.

I am able to take on-spot decisions and meet many co-land tillers. The villagers even today are still very simple and straight forward.

Gurdwara in our street. Earstwhile Masjid turned into a Gurdwsra, known as Gaganpatti Gurdwara.  The place continues to serve the same purpose.

This handsome young man waited on the tables in a newly opened Airconditioned Restaurant. He is a accredited athelete and a gold medal prospect.

The communications among the villagers is very strong. With this short visit of few hours, I am updated on various happenings in the village including the politics. The trip is undoubtly cost and time effective.

I have promised myself to take Shiv on my next trip to Badbar to enjoy the ambience surroundings of our own lands.

We take the return journey by 6.00 pm and reach New Delhi Railway Station by 11.00 pm. The whole journey proves to be full of entertainment and rejuvenates you.

Thanks my forefathers whose hard work and efforts even now produce fruits for my whole family.
