A thrilling day's journey to my village Badbar in FEB 2015

Our Driver Sunil allocated to us by Harkirat Veer Ji and Balli Bhenji has been fantastic for last so many years on our trip to Delhi every time. He is punctual to a dot. He has hardly missed even a single duty even if it is in the odd hours.

So this time also Sunil dropped us at the New Delhi Railway Station well in time. We hired a Cooley and reached Platform #3 from where a recent Shatabdi Express leaves at 6.55 am.  A Cooley is a must for a stranger like us, as he will guide you to the exact Platform and exact Train Car and exact allotted seat for you. He will also put your luggage on the overhead racks.

As we enter the train car on the allotted bogey, we are aghast by neat and clean white drapery on every seat. There was fragrance too for a change, but we had to pass through rush of people squatting on the front lobby. The lobby being so wide and vast looked short for the amount of passengers.

The Cooley fits our luggage on the top shelves over our heads. We find the fellow customers very friendly, adjusting and sharing.

We are comfortable in our seats which are adjustable like airplane seats. The server on the train quickly comes and offers  a Newspaper choice in Hindi and English. I pick up Hindi to enjoy its customary flowery language which refreshens my old memories.

Shiv gets engrossed in the News with a fresh hot dipped tea.

Shiv is enjoying his phone and green fields with knee level wheat crops all along in this Haryana Punjab belt..

Trying to get Shiv in the Selfie.

At 5 minutes to 11.00 am the train docks itself on the Platform at Sangrur Railway station which was built in 110 years back in 1905. Shiv points out me to record the same.

Our driver is waiting for us to take us to Badbar which is 10 miles from here.

A beautiful colonial style neat and clean Sangrur Railway Station which remained a single platform Station for 100 years.

The Kanwar Yatra is performed by Shiva Devotees called Kanwariyas from Sultanganj to Devghar round the year. Earlier this yatra was performed in the month of Bhadon, from 1960 the mela started from the month of Sharvan and extended up to Dashahra. Now round the year Kanwariyas take Ganga Jal from Sultanganj and travel a distance of 100 km bare footed and reach Devghar in Jharkhand. During the Basant Panchmi, Maha Shivratri and other important Hindu occasions, the number of Kanwariyas increase many fold. During a calendar year about 2 Crores Kanwariyas perform this holy journey.

Getting ready for ordering Tandoori Parathas

Shiv is eyeing adjoining toy shop. He bought almost half the shop for Gobind, Jania and little Geet. I find the toys are very popular with them particularly the self electronic glittering ball with Geet, a doll with Jania and a hand shot gun for Gobind. Strangely the toy shop had everything for all ages of kids.

At the other parcel which is known as Maaru.

Shiv is walking where my Dad used to walk with pride.

Shruti  along with Deliza and Aaveer came midway at Malerkotla to meet us

The return train journey starts with hot soup being served to start with.

Full dinner hot and spicy served. Yummy!

Sumptuous dinner followed by dipped Tea

We took a cab which dropped us to Shilpy's parents home in Ambience. The whole journey was completed in 17 hrs from Delhi - Badbar - Delhi.

This journey so comfortable and enjoying was not possible a few years back. It was like picnic all the day.
