Bal Lila Gurdwara Patna Sahib

Gurdwara Bal Lila Maini Sangat - in a narrow lane close to Takht Sahib marks the house where Raja Fateh Chand Maini lived. His childless Rani had developed special fondness for the young Gobind Das, who, too, often came here to sit in the Rani's lap giving her immense delight and spiritual solace. She fed the Sahibzada and his playmates, at their demand, with boiled and salted gram. Even now boiled and salted gram is served as prasad (consecrated food) in this Gurdwara, which, unlike the other shrines in Patna Sahib, is served by Nirmala Sikhs.

A wood carving above on the old front door is dated Assu sudi 1, 1725 Bikrami corresponding to 28th August 1668, but the hall housing the sanctum and other blocks of rooms in the inner compound have been reconstructed during recent decades

This old Sri GGS, hand written under the supervision of Bhai Nand Lal Ji Goya, is very well maintained. Unless there is a fully occupied Diwan Hall, the Sri GGS is not allowed to be shown to any individual in order to limit its usage on account of its old age.

These beautiful ornamented marble columns are the same used during Rani times.

Gurudwara Bal Leela is also called as Maini Sangat. This Gurudwara is also associated with the childhood of Guru Ji. This place is just 200 meters away from Takhat Patna Sahib. Guru ji used to play with other children during his childhood.

Once Wife of King Fateh Chand Maini prayed to God to have a son like Guru ji. One day she was worshiping to God when Guru ji came and sat in her lap.

An artist depiction of Bal Guru Ji sitting in the lap of Rani is displayed here.

Guru ji addressed her as mother. She was amazed to hear this as nobody had called her with that name before. She was overjoyed as Guru Ji called her mother and She was called Dharm (religion) Mata.

Boiled grams are distributed as a Parsaad in this Gurudwara in the memory of Guru Ji.

A pair of Kheen Khaab which Guru Ji wore in his childhood are preserved here as shown below:

Excellent Stay Facilities

We found Raj Mata Niwas a better accommodation than the Four Star facility we stayed in Patna. Neat and clean toilets remind us of USA.

Harvinder seems mesmerized and went nostalgic with tears in her eyes by this 'Ber' tree which is off shoot from the tooth cleaning stick of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This 'Ber' Tree is well guarded and maintained extremely nicely.

Thanks and hats off to the Management for keeping it so safe and secure. We promised to visit again when the bridge leading to the narrow lanes is completed in a couple of years. Presently land acquisition seems to be completed as we saw many houses dissmentalled  on either side of the road with scores of vegetable venders and their customers squandering all around.

We are hopeful Guru Ji blessings will help
to developed this congested area in a modern way.
