 Sibling Teaching

Jania could not apply for appearing in the Advancement coursework Maths  for her next year class of 6th Grade in Middle School.

Suddenly Shilpy got a call from the school that she can appear for the test in two days time on Wednesday. Now She was to prepare herself for covering the whole of 6th grade sylabous in Maths.

Gobind took upon the opportunity to teach his sibling Jania and prepare her for the ongoing test. He made a crash coarse and started guiding Jania right in the family room.He brought in his tools and was on his way. Surprisingly, Jania first time seemed passionate about learning text book.

It was a serious affair. As Gobind grabbed the Geet's writing board to use the same for passing instructions and writing typical questions on Maths.

It made me and Harvinder pleasantly surprised to see a recent teenager seriously guiding his younger sister with very cool and specific instructions. Jania behaved like a good pupil and even took permission from her stop-gap-teacher Veer ji for water break.

The discipline between the teacher and pupil was amazingly high class. Jania took extremely good interest in the tutorial class from his brother. She may be able to qualify for special advancement class or not, but her preparation through listening to her older brother was worth appreciation and would go a long way in their future life..

After the class, Jania was promptly given homework and for that she was to work overtime to face the new teacher tomorrow in Veer ji.

Thanks, Gobind for being such a responsible grandson, a son and a brother. Harvinder again reminds me about the observation Shiv had made at the time of his birth. Gobind was born with a congenital heart disease and was recommended for a surgery. This was a bolt from the blue from the doctor and shattered me completely. I had not even sinked in with the thrill of a grandson being born yet.

I clearly remember Shiv walking with me on the side walk and emphasizing with assurance not to worry about the newly born. He would grow up to be a nice boy who would not only serve grandparents in the old age but will also take care of his own parents. And above all Gobind would also look after his siblings well. What a Prophecy by Shiv!

As I am writing this today, there is a news on 'Good Morning America' that American Olympic champion in Skate boarding and Snow boarding Shaun White's newly born son is being taken for an emergency heart surgery. News anchor Robin Roberts while talking to medical correspondence who explains that there are 35000 such surgeries every year in the country and most of them are living a very very normal life.

What a coincidence!
