Having Lost My Diamond Ring

Oct 17, 2020

The Pandemic conditions were slowly trying to improve towards normalcy, people had started moving out with precautions and observing strict Covid protocols. We also decided to go for a beach walk. So we picked Santa Cruz Boardwalk up for having first major outing for fun.

We found lots of people but each and everyone wearing required masks and maintaining proper distancing. As I reached for the entry ticket at the entry Gate, I heard some sound but after getting my Parking ticket, I kept on going.

We had couple rounds of board walk and enjoyed seals, sea lions, Seagulls and sailing Yatchs along vast Pacific Sea. We then went to buy some snacks to-go and enjoyed it inside our car. Suddenly I felt some vacuum and found that finger ring was missing. I was sure that I had dropped it near the entry where I had heard some thudding noice. We somehow galloped the remaining snacks and walked back towards the entry Gate.

You may observe, the ring is missing while i eat

We searched it thoroughly and asked the man controlling the gate if he had seen a ring around or some body had approached him as ‘found’ item. We got a blunt negative reply.

We made many rounds and returned frustrated that we had finally lost our precious diamond ring. We gave our contacts to the gateman and returned home dejected.

So on Mar 22, 2021 As I was stocking my undergarments in my Vanity, I found some thing glittering inside a corner. I hastened to collect it and to my utmost surprise I had found my lost ring. It was not very costly though, but my darling wife Harvinder  bought for me from Sears as we had recently migrated to USA. What a relief!

This was the second time I had found a lost diamond of my ring after a gap of many months and that was a way back in 1974 in Trishuli Hydel Project, Nepal when I lost my wedding diamond ring and retraced it trapped in the remote corner of my Pant pocket. Two time lucky.
