The Kaveri river rises at Talakaveri in the Brahmagiri range in the Western Ghats, Kodagu district of the state of Karnataka, at an elevation of 1,341 m above mean sea level and flows for about 800 km before its outfall into the Bay of Bengal.
The origin of river Kaveri from ‘Talakaveri’
‘Sangama’of Cauvery, Kanika and Sujata rivers.
This is a sacred point for Hindus in south Karnataka, to perform appeasing rituals for their forefathers and departed kin. Here the two streams of Kaveri around the Srirangapatna island rejoin and run further as one river. This confluence point is called 'sangama' or sangam. There is a belief that a third stream joins Kaveri here as an underground spring.
Per chance we met a Lt Gen (R) BK Bopanna who was also closely known to Shilpy Dada ji Lt Gen T. S. Oberoi.
