UC Merced picks up Jania for Research Job

​Today is one of the happiest and most memorable days of our lives.

My dear Jania, who just turned 19 a few in months ago, has been selected and offered a paid research position at the University of California, Merced.

It is truly remarkable that her dedication, perseverance, and hard work have been recognized by the university scholars. After going through several challenging rounds of interviews, she has finally been chosen, a testament to her sincerity

Prof Sora Lee Kim an eminent researcher and Scientific expert.

She will be working under the mentorship of Prof. Sora Lee Kim, a renowned valley shark researcher and scientific expert, who is making waves in the world of science, even recently featured on Discovery’s “Shark Week.” Learning under such a distinguished and inspiring scientist is an incredible opportunity for Jania and a blessing for her academic growth.

Isotopes Prof Sora Kim is all over Internet ever since  Discovery Chnnel broadcasted a feature on her work.

Jania  was picked for this prestigious role because of her strong academic foundation in Biology, Chemistry, and Oceanology, which perfectly aligns with the research themes of the lab and the scientific direction of her mentor.

It is worth noting that most undergraduate research opportunities begin as volunteer or for-credit positions, while paid research roles are highly competitive and often depend on the availability of grant funding in the lab. That makes this achievement even more extraordinary.

Carbon Isotopes

Her research work will focus on Stable Isotopes, atoms of the same element that contain the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons, making them non-radioactive and stable over time. These isotopes are widely used as tracers in scientific studies: tracking the movement of water, understanding ecological relationships, analyzing ancient diets, and revealing processes, origins, and transformations in natural and human-made systems. The relative abundance of these isotopes provides researchers with valuable insights, and it is inspiring that Jania is stepping into such a meaningful and impactful field.

For the past three weeks, I had been eagerly waiting for this Wednesday to arrive, the day of celebration. And today, on this blessed 12th of November, our luckiest Wednesday, we are joyfully completing the formalities of her offer.
