Lodhi Art District is the first-ever Public Art District in India, as over 25 street artists from India and around the world came together to paint the walls of the iconic Lodhi Colony of Delhi.
After having delicious lunch at Taj Man Singh hosted by our fav Son-In-Law Mandeep Malhotra I decided to spend my evening taking a walk through the streets of Lodhi colony. This art gallery is located between Khanna Market and Meher chand Market in Lodhi Colony. Let me now take you on a virtual tour of the Lodhi Colony through my iPhone. Hope you like it!
The St+Art India Foundation, a non-profit organization working on art projects in public spaces to make an Art accessible to a wider audience, is hosting the amazing St+Art Festival in Delhi. The two month long Festival has brought together over 25 street artists from India and across the world to brighten the city with Art interventions and more. And with this hard work, these artists have successfully transformed the Lodhi Colony area of Delhi into India's very first open public Art District.

Lodhi Colony was built in 1940s to house government employees, with bungalows for senior officials in the nearby Lodhi Estate area.
Harvinder’s grandfather Mr Jagat Narian Kapoor 9and my Uncle) was lucky to be allotted one of the bungalows here and it is here that most of our family members about 30 of them moved with them immediately after partition. From here we moved to Refugee colonies like Nizamuddin, Jangpura Extension and Lajpat Nagar.
It was really nostalgic to walk through the lanes and Bungalows which are being converted into Modern Art Murals by the above nonprofit identity.
New murals are being added to Lodhi Colony, this time with the aim to highlight an array of social causes such as women's empowerment, climate change, waste management and recycling and other pertinent issues.
