Khalsa Raj Darbar during Maharaja Ranjeet Singh

ATH DARA
Khalsa Raj Darbar Maharajh Ranjeet Singh, Lahore Fort, Pakistan.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the great Sikh ruler, resurrected Lahore. He conquered the city in 1799 CE and made it the capital of his fast expanding Sikh empire.
Agh Dara ( house with eight doors ) Maharajh Ranjit Singh, who used it as court of justic, built the open pavilion. The combination of white marble and red stone brackets, and marble trellis screens with red sandstone post in the ornamental railing placed on the roof of the building clearly indicate its Sikh Origin.
Athdara " house of 8 doors " which served as Ranjit Singh!s court of justic. The watchtower adjacent to Athdara served as the Maharaja!s private shrine where the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs was kept.
