Start of the journey.
We are all set for our five-week trip to India, with a short stay in Istanbul Turkey for three nights, followed by Mumbai for three nights, then Goa for five nights before heading to Delhi for a couple of days to attend to some personal business.
Looking a bit sad.
Everything was ready, but then we realized our flight was delayed by an hour and a half. On top of that, our limo driver did not show up on time. While waiting, I checked the departure status and confirmed the delay.
Driver loading the luggage
Finally, at sharp 10 am , the driver arrived, and we got into the limousine a clean, comfortable ride that made for a hassle-free trip to the airport without troubling any family members. It took us about 40 minutes to reach the international departures. The driver helped with our baggage, and within five minutes, we were checked in at the Turkish Airlines counter. Since I had already completed the online check-in, the process was smooth.
At San Francisco international Airport.
Security was easy as well. Being 80 years old, I did not have to remove my jacket or shoes, which made things much more convenient. After clearing security, we headed to the lounge, where we had a comfortable lunch and relaxed for about two hours before boarding.
Happily seated in seat 2K.
The flight itself was excellent. We were treated like royalty, with the chef personally coming over to check on our vegetarian meal preferences.
Buttery Pasta - very yummy.
Okra and rice and Saag
Soup and Salad
Excellent serving
The food was fresh, hot, and served with great hospitality. Journey was comfortable, but Harvinder had a small mishap with her his glasses slipped into the seat, and she couldnot find them. He looked around but eventually gave up and went to sleep. In the morning, we tried again but still couldnot locate them. Finally, we called a flight attendant for help. He used a flashlight to check under the seat and spotted the glasses, but they were in a difficult spot. Another attendant, a petite girl, managed to squeeze her hand in and retrieve them what a relief!
Typical Istanbul can
We landed in Istanbul to a beautiful sight an impressive, clean, and massive international airport. Immigration and customs were smooth, and we quickly got a taxi to our hotel. It was raining, and we could see snow-covered hills in the distance, likely from the previous nights snowfall. We took some pictures before continuing our ride.
Snowy out side even at noon time.
In about 30 minutes, we reached the Sheraton. Our room was on the 18th floor. Exhausted from the journey, we checked in, got comfortable, and went straight to sleep.
That was our first day in Istanbul. More to come!
