I was on my way to school when, right at the entrance, I almost stepped on a snake! My friend Aarni suddenly shouted, “Oh my gosh, there’s a snake!” I quickly stopped, stepped back, and took a few pictures of it. Then I noticed it was rearing its head up — it looked a bit threatened. So we decided to walk away quietly so we wouldn’t scare it.
Later, I realized it was a corn snake. I knew that because I had researched them before and read about them in books. It looked like the typical kind of snake most people imagine — the second one you’d think of after a cobra. Also, corn snakes are common in the area where we live, and fortunately, they’re not poisonous
