Supporting Artists Who Serve the Planet
The DhunAnand Foundation, founded by Shivpreet Singh, is inspired by Guru Nanak’s universal vision of oneness, compassion, equality, sharing, selfless service, and Sarbat da Bhala, the welfare of all.
Its roots reach back more than three centuries. Guru Gobind Singh Ji directed our ancestor Bhai Nand Lal Ji ‘Goya’, the celebrated Persian poet and scholar, to establish a school in Mohalla Aghapura, Multan, now in Pakistan, spreading education, service, and humanity.
The school continued to function for generations, until the partition of the country in 1947 ( as per Legendry historian Prof Ganda Singh in his book ‘Bhai Nand Lal Granthavali’)
That legacy continues today at Government High School, Badbar, Punjab, India. Badbar was chosen because many descendants of Bhai Nand Lal Ji were allotted agricultural lands and settled there. Over generations, many became professionals in technology, healthcare, administration, and other fields, often living elsewhere while retaining their ancestral connection with the village.
At DhunAnand, an “Artist” is anyone who uses talent, knowledge, creativity, compassion, and dedication to make the planet better, a teacher, healer, musician, scholar, sportsperson, volunteer, or young student preparing to serve tomorrow.
DhunAnand therefore supports education, sports, music, spirituality, healthcare, humanitarian service, culture, and community development, different expressions of the same spirit of service.
From Aghapura to Badbar, and from Punjab to California and beyond, a centuries-old thread continues: learning, creativity, compassion, and service.
