Great Wall Of China Dec 2006

The oft-repeated claim that the Great Wall of China is the only man- made object visible from space is a myth, but that does not make the sight any less Impressive. The complete Wall, which actually consists of numerous fortifications built over the past 2000 years, measures nearly 14,000 miles. Some sections are in ruins or have disappeared, but other portions, especially those near Beijing, are frequently renovated. Badalong, closest to Beijing, is by far the grandest and most famous section and most touristy.

My visit to Beijing in Dec 2006 was memorable. Our walking on the wall and reaching its top points was not an easy challenge. By reaching at the top, I felt that I had conquered China itself.
