Rosewood Mayakoba Playa del Carmen Visit

Both Balbir and Loveleen Sahni were keen to join their kids who were also traveling and camping about 30-40 minutes from our Moon Palace.

We landed in the morning and took some time to check in the resort after completing the formalities. Finally we were tied a marked band around our wrists and hence we were bonaifed residents of this vast resort for seven days. We were told to wait till our rooms got cleaned up and in mean time talk to the vacation planner for arranging various sight seeing spots.

Paawan arranged a limousine and sent for us to take us to the Luxury Rosewood Mayakoba Resorts situated on The Rivera Maya on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula where he and his brother Hansdeep's family were staying.

Mayakoba itself is a 600-acre master-planned resort community, akin to those of Hawaii (Kapalua, Wailea, Kaanapali) with three hotels (there is also a Fairmont and a Banyan Tree) and shared common facilities, most notably the golf course. Nicknamed “The Venice of Mexico,” it has an extensive network of canals linking the many mangrove forests and lagoons, most of them laboriously blasted through the dense coastal limestone by its developer, OHL, Spain’s largest construction company. It took eight years and a billion dollars to install the infrastructure. Each hotel has its own spa, gym, beach club and multiple restaurants, which all guests can utilize, but the Rosewood excels. So we were here today to have a glance at this great facility which was really appealing.

Thanks to Sahnis.

It was really a fun to have a Delux Motor Launch ride from the main pool at the ocean front to the resort suite which was sitting on slag ion front. It was Paawan's idea to travel by boat and it made all the difference on a short visit to the Rosewood Resort.

Every room fronts water, either lagoon, canal or beach, and many have private docks. Sizes and features vary but all are appreciably better than standard luxury hotel rooms, and most have private plunge pools, outdoor showers, spacious decks, and the like the one shown above.

A scene from the Resort Suite

Downtown Playa-del-Carmen the heartbeat of the Region. It has pedistrianised bars and restaurants all over. This place was only 15 minutes from Rosewood Resort. The street remind us of similar set up back home in Indian towns.

Dinner was hosted by Sahnis in the Restaurant below:
