On the eve of Raakhi:

A Flower garden and a Tree full of Colorful Berries by Jania

Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, is a significant Indian festival that celebrates the bond of love and protection between brothers and sisters. The festival usually falls in the month of Shravana, which corresponds to July or August in the Gregorian calendar.

"Raksha Bandhan" translates to "the bond of protection." On this day, sisters tie a decorative thread (known as a "rakhi") around their brothers' wrists. This thread symbolizes their love, trust, and the promise of protection. In return, brothers give gifts to their sisters as a gesture of their care and commitment.

Rakhi is more than just a physical thread; it represents a strong emotional bond. The brother's promise to protect his sister and the sister's prayers for her brother's well-being are central themes of the festival.

Janis’s colorful picture adds glamour to brother-sister love festival.
