A Day in House boat in Vembanad lake

Vembanad is the longest lake with a maximum length of 96.5 km in India and the largest in the state of Kerala. It spans several districts in Kerala and is known by different names in different areas, such as Vembanadu Lake, Punnamada Lake and Kochi Lake.  The lake features several small islands,
The hotel Ramada in Alippee had also offered a full day of house boat with on site lunch and snacks.

This region has historical significance in the ancient history of South India and plays a crucial role as the major rice producer in the state. Farmers in Kuttanad are well-known for their expertise in Biosaline Farming,

Kuttanad, often referred to as "The Rice Bowl of Kerala," holds the distinction of having the lowest altitude in India and is one of the rare places globally where cultivation occurs  1.2 to 3.0 meters (4 to 10 ft) below sea level.

The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a famous event held in a portion of the Vembanad lake.

It's unfortunate that some areas of the Vembanad backwaters are experiencing high levels of pollution. The Indian government's recognition of the Vembanad wetland under the National Wetlands Conservation Programme is a step toward addressing and preserving this unique and ecologically significant region.
