The end of an Era- Lata Mangeshkar

Lata ji's body is complete. Yesterday was Saraswati Puja, today mother is leaving. It seems like mother Saraswati came to take her dearest daughter this time.

Death is not always a matter of grief. Death is the perfection of life. As beautiful as Lata ji's life has been, her death is equally beautiful.

Only rare people get such a beautiful and religious life of 93 years. Nearly five generations have heard them enchanted, and respected them with heart.

When his father handed over the reins of the house in his last minute, that thirteen year old was the responsibility of keeping four little siblings on the shoulders of the thirteen-year-old. Lata ji dedicated his entire life to all four of them. And today when they are gone their family is one of India's most respected iconic families. What would be more successful in a person's life?

India is living with Lata ji's songs for the last eighty years. In joy, in sadness, in devotion to God, in patriotism, in love, in mockery... Lata ji's voice is our voice in every feeling.

Lata ji did not wear slippers while singing. The song was like worshiping God to them. When someone went to their house, they would show him the picture of their parents and the temple of their adorable home made. They thought only these three things to be shown to the world. Think about it, what kind of philosophical expression is this... There is really nothing more important in the world than these three. It's all about coming and going.

What a wonderful coincidence that Lata ji, who sang more than 50 thousand songs of every juice/bhajan in about 36 languages in his almost seventy years of singing career, has sung Bhajan as his first and last Hindi film song. From 'Jyoti Kalash Chhalke' to 'Data listen', the beauty of the journey is that Lataji never dig away from his duty nor from his religion! Lata Mangeshkar was only five-year-old when her father Pt Deenanath Mangeshkar started giving her singing lessons. Pt Deenanath Mangeshkar was a well-known Marathi theatre artiste and Hindustani Classical vocalist. Lata even participated in his plays. But life had other plans.

At 13, just as she was about to start her music career, Lata lost her father. Being the eldest among her five siblings, the responsibility of the family fell upon her and she took the challenge head-on. She started singing in films and became the sole bread-earner of her family.

Lata also worked hard to support her siblings -- Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, Meena Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Today, all five siblings are renowned artistes and have even worked together in several projects.
